Choosing a cat breed can be a bit daunting, especially if you don’t know very much about cats! When considering a cat, you must be sure to choose a breed that will best suit your lifestyle. Some breeds require more physical activity than others, and some require much more grooming. Look below to find the top five most popular cat breeds. You will also find a brief description about each breed’s grooming requirements and personality type.

The Oriental is one of the most popular cat breeds around. This breed is a very intelligent, loyal companion and tends to bond deeply with its family. It has large, pointed ears, and although its body is very sleek, it is still quite a muscular breed.

The American Shorthair is extremely popular with families, as they tend to be very affectionate and friendly. The American shorthair originally was a working breed, mostly for mouse hunting, which explains the agile muscular structure and short hair. They do need a little exercise, but most are quite content being a lap cat.

The Birman breed is thought to have originated from Burma. It is perhaps best recognized by its blue eyes, white body, and smoky-brown face, ears, legs, and tail. Birmans possess a long, sturdy body structure with long, mat-resistant hair. They love to play and are quite gentle. They are affectionate without being too needy.

If you’re looking for a very affectionate, cuddly cat, then a Sphynx may be the breed for you. Although they look like they have no fur, they actually have a peach-like fuzz all over their body. As they don’t have much hair to protect their skin, they should strictly be kept indoors. This breed does require a bit of extra care, particularly with room temperature, as this breed can easily become too cold.

A very mild and gentle cat breed is the Ragdoll, appropriately named such as it can be quite floppy and relaxed when picked up. If you love a cat that accompanies you from room to room, this breed would likely be a wonderful match for you. They are very careful not to use teeth or claws when playing around, so they would also make an excellent cat for children.

Now that you have a better idea about the most popular, yet very different, breeds out there, hopefully you find choosing a cat to be a little less daunting than before. Be sure to remember that lifestyles are important factors to consider; so if you aren’t very active, you probably shouldn’t choose a cat that requires a lot of activity, and vice versa.

Health care is as Available as Food in America

Douglas Fender asked:

America has healthcare in such enormous quantities and quality that people can have almost any procedure done, if they pay the cost. People in America if they so choose can also have enormous amounts of insurance for themselves, family, pets and live stock, if they pay the cost.  Any American can have new organs put into their cats and dogs costing tens of thousands of dollars, if they pay the cost. Any American can have almost any procedure done as well as the best recovery room in even near luxurious conditions, if they pay the cost. Why, because health care is a business like any other and if you do not have the money or do not pay for the service you will not get it, just like you do not get a new Ferrari sports car, if you do not pay for it.

If the Ferrari dealership and the grocery store gave away their products for free they would go out of business and so would health care providers, so all these business charge for services like they should. No matter how bad your prior health has been almost anyone can have health insurance if they pay the premiums even a highly elevated premium due to past medical problems. So if people, dogs and cats can all get medical care anytime in America then why is there a war going on to reform the health care system?

What is wrong with the health care system? The service is great but the costs are high for medical services and insurance premiums. So what should we do to fix it? Find ways to lower the costs. Since we live in a Republic and it has a free market system we should look for ways to help the market to lower health care costs like opening interstate insurance so providers can compete more freely nationwide, or cap lawsuits awards to end massive judgments or lower taxes on health providers or let doctors have tax breaks for giving service to people without insurance and so on. There are many ways to help drive down costs to a system that already has great quality services for those whom can afford it.

Obama’s health care reform bill is a massive Washington power grab that will force all health care providers to be government employees and cost the taxpayers endless amounts of money and lower the quality of health care that we now have. It is sad that many people cannot afford rent, food, health care or other needed things in life and the best way to help them is make conditions easier for them to make money to be able to pay for these needed services by having a smaller government, fewer taxes, incentives to lower costs for these needed services and other proven free market strategies that promote growth and jobs to make money to pay for what is needed in life.
